Jayapura – Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) merupakan salah satu wujud implementasi Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi yang diluncurkan oleh Ditjen Diktiristek pada tahun 2023 di bawah pengelolaan Belmawa merupakan salah satu upaya untuk menumbuhkan, mewadahi dan mewujudkan ide kreatif serta inovatif mahasiswa. Salah satu jenis program PKM adalah Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa Riset Eksakta (PKM-RE) yang bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan minat dan kemampuan riset, pemahaman metode riset dan cara analisis data, menghasilkan riset berkualitas dan berpotensi untuk dipublikasikan di jurnal ilmiah dan dimungkinkan untuk menghasilkan paten yang bermanfaat baik bagi masyarakat akademik maupun masyarakat luas.
Tim PKM-RE dari Program Studi Teknik Geofisika, Jurusan Fisika, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Cenderawasih Memperoleh tahun ini berhasil memperoleh hibah pendanaan Proposal PKM tahun 2023. Adapun judul riset yang diangkat dalam Program PKM-RE adalah “Identifikasi Potensi Panas Bumi di Sumber Mata Air Panas Kampung Mosso Provinsi Papua Melalui Pemodelan Bawah Permukaan Menggunakan Metode Gravitasi”. Tim PKM-RE yang mengerjakan riset dengan topik panas bumi ini beranggotakan tiga orang mahasiswa dan seorang dosen pendamping tim yaitu :

Riset yang dilaksanakan berlokasi di mata air panas Kampung Mosso, Distrik Muara Tami, Kota Jayapura. Sesuai dengan jadwal pelaksanaan PKM yang dikeluarkan oleh Ditjen Diktiristek, pelaksanaan riset yang akan kami lakukan dimulai dari tanggal 16 Juni 2023 sampai dengan 15 November 2023 atau sekitar 5 bulan.
Dalam riset ini, Tim PKM-RE Prodi Teknik Geofisika menggunakan metode gravitasi untuk mengidentifikasi potensi panas bumi (geothermal) yang ada di sumber mata air panas Kampung Mosso. Metode gravitasi digunakan dalam riset tim kami karena bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur bawah permukaan lokasi riset untuk mengidentifikasi potensi panas bumi di lokasi tersebut, dimana metode gravitasi sendiri dapat memberikan informasi parameter variasi densitas batuan hasil pemodelan berdasarkan anomali gravitasi. Panas bumi (geothermal) dalam riset ini menjadi topik yang menarik untuk dibahas karena adanya sebuah manifestasi panas bumi yaitu mata air panas yang berada di Kampung Mosso, Distrik Muara Tami, Kota Jayapura, Provinsi Papua yang mengindikasikan bahwa pada daerah tersebut memiliki potensi panas bumi. Selain itu, mengingat tingginya harga energi fosil saat ini mendorong banyak pihak untuk melakukan berbagai upaya untuk menemukan sumber energi alternatif di Indonesia termasuk di wilayah Papua. Oleh karena itu, Tim PKM-RE dari Prodi Teknik Geofisika, FMIPA mengangkat topik tersebut untuk dapat mengungkap dan memberikan informasi mengenai potensi sistem panas bumi yang berada di lokasi tersebut yang diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada eksplorasi penyediaan sumber energi listrik alternatif sebagai pengganti energi fosil di Papua.
Kegiatan yang baru saja tim PKM-RE adalah kegiatan turun lapangan untuk pengambilan sampel batuan yang dilakukan pada hari Sabtu, 16 September 2023 dan berlokasi di daerah Koya Timur, Skouw dan Kampung Mosso, Distrik Muara Tami, Kota Jayapura. Saat ini progress riset tim PKM-RE ini sudah berjalan sekitar 60% dan sudah memasuki tahap pengambilan data sampel batuan di lapangan dan pemodelan bawah permukaan lokasi riset menggunakan data anomali gravitasi dan densitas batuan. Adapun kegiatan berikutnya yang akan dilakukan adalah tahap pengukuran suhu air, ph batuan, dan profiling geologi di titik lokasi mata air panas. Kemudian tahap akhir berupa pemodelan bawah permukaan berdasarkan anomali gravitasi dan data-data yang sudah diperoleh guna mengidentifikasi sistem panas bumi berdasarkan model bawah permukaan.
